What is Acredo?
Acredo Technologies, Inc. is part of a global telecom group (Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong, and Signapore) that has been established since 1996. The purpose: Save time by improving communications. The mission: Create simple and convenient ways that allow business to communicate better.



What is VoIP?
VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) is a technology that allows voice communications to travel over a Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. VoIP compresses voice (audio) data into packets that can be transmitted over data networks and the public Internet. At the receiving end, the packets are converted back into voice.



What is BASIX™?
BASIX™ is a state of the art, hosted, business class telephone system utilizing "Voice over the Internet" technology (VoIP) combined with a fully redundant nationwide high speed Internet network and fault tolerant Linux based application servers. Brastel Application Server for Internet Exchanges (BASIX™) is the actual Hosted Internet Phone System (IPBX), soft swith/software that was totally developed by Brastel.



Is BASIX™ audio quality as good as a traditional phone service?
Absolutely. Acredo has committed to the use of Avaya 9600 series IP phones. They provide the best VoIP call experience, superior audio quality, and the best ergonomic design. The unique high-fidelity acoustics of the Avaya 9620 deliver industry-leading audio that minimizes ambient noise. With the enhanced audio across high and low frequencies, it is easier for users to better understand others with different speech nuances or accents. As a result of the enhanced audio, calls are more productive, team members are better able to collaborate. On conference calls, users find it easier to distinguish and understand multiple speakers, aiding in collaboration and communications. Overall, communications are richer.



What advanced phone features does BASIX™ offer?
Our proprietary software offers the largest feature selection available. A set of advanced Centrex functions include: Switching, hunting, forwarding, music on hold, virtual receptionist (auto attendant), voicemail, conference bridge, Automatic Call distribution (ACD), Screen Pop-up and CRM Integration (CTI), Presence, Fax, Unified Communications (TTS, Voicemail, Fax), All web based, customer has full control of PBX/Centrex, presence management, Instant Messaging (IM).



Is BASIX™ difficult to set up?
Not at all. BASIX™ is a user friendly product that is simply set up for "plug and play." A friendly Acredo technician will come to your business and set everything up for you.



What equipment do I need to use?
We will provide for you an Avaya 9620 SIP (session initiated protocol) phone, web based user interface, soft phone. and all the equiment needed to get you started right away.



What is a softphone?
A softphone is software used for making telephone calls using an Internet Telephony Service Provider such as BASIX™ over the Internet using a computer rather than using dedicated hardware. A soft phone is designed to behave like a traditional telephone, usually appearing like the image as a phone as well as having the same characteristics of one. A softphone will have a display panel and buttons so that a user is able interact. A softphone is usually used in conjunction with a headset connected to a computer or to a phone. BASIX™ offers the X-Lite softphone in all of our plans, although we charge no fee in our elaborate Value Plus Plan. Our softphone has all the standard telephony features to include DND, Mute, Hold, Transfer, Dialing, Presence Management, etc. The X-Lite softphone can be used to call any other phones to include cell phones and other softphones.

Can I use my current office numbers with BASIX™?
Yes. You can transfer any number youd like to with BASIX™.



Does BASIX™ provide E911 calling?
Yes we offer E911 calling that is available 24/7 through bandwidth.com. With E911 service, when you dial 911, your telephone number and registered address is simultaneously sent to the local emergency center assigned to your location, and emergency operators have access to the information they need to send help and call you back if necessary.



Does BASIX™ provide FAX capabilities?
Yes. We give our customers the option to have a seperate line so that you are able to have fax capabilities.



Can I use my exisiting data connection with BASIX™?
Yes, you can, but to effectively use our product, you will have to make sure your data connection has enough bandwidth. To check out the bandwidth speed in your office, click here.
